The Community Media Center of Marin is open again and we have some important updates for 2024:
The Editing Lab has been optimized with new Mac computer systems with M2 Pro chips. We look forward to having our community enjoy the major upgrades at the center.
CMCM will no longer be providing SD cards for members to use in cameras and the podcast studio. These are now affordable enough that members should have their own. Below are some links to the exact SD cards we recommend for you all to purchase for both the Sony X70 Cameras & the eXpress Podcast Studio. We greatly appreciate your understanding!
This Giving Tuesday offers an important opportunity to help strengthen community media across the country and in Marin. The Community Media Center of Marin has been operating for 17 years and has served thousands of Marin residents and youth with courses in media production and free access to professional production equipment and studios. We also provide the equipment and operators to bring Marin residents over 600 local municipal and county meetings each year. We actually produce more hours of community and government content in a single month than most major PBS affiliates do in a year.

Goodbye, Final Cut 7!
Final Cut X came out in 2011. It has since been refined and is now a much more stable and faster editing platform than Final Cut 7 ever was (which also hasn't been supported or updated for years). The very latest Final Cut X will only run on the 'High Sierra' Mac OS and that effectively renders Final Cut 7 inoperable. In order to update our operating system for stability and security, will soon phase out Final Cut 7 from our editing lab.
If you have using FCP7 exclusively, it's time to finally embrace new technology. Please sign up for a Final Cut X class today!
Here are several other useful tools to help make your transition to FCPX as smooth as possible:
